As I observe my 75th birthday this year, I invite you to celebrate with me! 

In early June I will be going on a two-week trip to the country of Costa Rica with Children of Promise.  This trip is billed as CofP’s annual fund-raiser, and I invite you to participate with me in providing much-needed funds for the ongoing work of this incredible ministry.  Though I hope to raise more, I have set a personal fundraising goal of $5,000, which is the rough equivalent of $1 for each of the children in their sponsorship program.  A donation of any amount - $10, $20, $50, $100 or more – would really be a big help.  (All donations are fully tax-deductible.)

Children of Promise is a non-profit organization which assists children in 34 countries of the world, addressing needs in the following four areas: medical, nutritional, educational, and spiritual. 

Though the work of CofP is multi-faceted, including helping in the areas of medical and natural disasters, Kathleen and I have personally been involved in their child-sponsorship program for more than 30 years.  We believe in the leadership of CofP and in the work they are doing around the world and we give CofP our whole-hearted endorsement.

Over the past three years I have personally traveled with CofP to Cote d’Ivoire (West Africa), as well as to the Philippines and to Thailand.  We go to provide support and training to both the national leaders and to the volunteers within each congregation who bring leadership to the program.  We are also blessed to spend several days traveling to multiple churches throughout the country and interviewing sponsored children.  I am so excited, and I’m looking forward to experiencing this trip!
